Mill Valley Market was opened by Frank Canepa on July 4, 1929. On his first day of business, he was given a shovel and told he was needed to fight the fire raging on Mt Tam. He spent the next three days fighting the fire. The market is still owned and operated by the Canepa family today. We are one with Mill Valley and by extension Mt Tam. The Canepa family were all raised on the mountain and to this day enjoy all it has to offer. Trails, trees, streams, wildlife, wildflowers, and waterfalls are just a few of the many reasons to visit this wonderland. Mt Tam delivers a sense of Zen for all.
